Airline cargo downturn, the future prospects. To cushion the impact of weak demand, shipping companies have been cancelling voyages to drive up spot rates. But shippers, Bcos and NVOCs plan to shift a higher proportion of their business to the spot market as contract negotiations stall.

In order to better cope with demand fluctuations, Maersk is cancelling the MSC ARIES/318N voyage on the TP2 route, Maersk informed customers on 11 April. Cargo will be received by TP6 Maersk Evora 318N and TP8 Maersk ntares 319N. And Maersk continues to cancel trips in an effort to match supply and demand.

The 2M alliance had already announced the cancellation of its TP6/Pear and TP2/Jaguar voyages from China on April 13 and 21 respectively.

Service was suspended due to a series of cancellations and concentrated cancellations of flights on certain routes. For example, the previous AE1/Shogun loop, one of the six Asia-Europe routes of the 2M alliance, was permanently suspended.
